Blade Silver by Melody Carlson

A friend of mine let me borrow this book a while back. I read it and loved it. It’s a Christian book but what I liked about it was that it didn’t even really talk about God until the very end when the girl gave her life to Christ. The main character is a troubled girl who cuts herself because her dad verbally abuses her. Her life is a mess but she doesn’t tell or talk to anyone about it. Its well written with a little of a love story in it. When someone finds the scars on her arms she is sent to a rehab place. She is there for a while and she thinks she is better then all the girls but then realizes she’s worst then them. The lady in charge tells her about God. I admit I cried lol. All together it was well put but not force like some Christian books I’ve read. I give it a 3 out of 5. It’s a touch your heart one.

Maximum Ride by James Patterson

So far there are about 5 books in this series. It’s a little kidish at times because the age is for about 9 and up but it was probably one of the best books I’ve read. The girl Max is half bird and takes you with her as she tells her story. It’s very sarcastic and humorous with a little forbidden love. She has three brothers (not really but that’s what she calls them) and two sisters (again not really but they all live together) and they all have wings but different powers. The writing is very good; I’ve always loved Patterson’s books. He writes for both young and adult. If anyone would ask me what author I would recommend, it would be him! He’s a fantastic writer. Anyhow, so back to the book. It’s a very fun book and it keeps you wanting more. The first two books are for young readers but after the third, fourth and so on, it gets a little more grown up because the characters are growing up. Special Max and Fang (the oldest boy in their ‘family’) their relationship is serious at sometimes but then funny. My favorite character is probably the youngest bird kid, Angel. She is very innocent looking but is sly and very tricky. But this book does have its flaws. In the fourth book, I think it is, the main theme is Global Warming. It is saying how we’re killing world. It makes us look very bad. Not something I liked. It sometimes made me mad. So that’s why I’m only giving it a 3 out of 5. Still a great book for kids/boys/girls though.

I probably won't be able to write in here for a couple days. I have work and school. But the next book I will be reading and writing about is Hunger Games and the second book. Then after that I will read Seven Suns (first book) Thanks for reading!

The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) by Christopher Paolini

Fourth book.
Third book.

Second book.

First book.

So, this book series were one of the greatest books I've read all my 16 years! I know, I know, that’s not many years but I seriously loved it! But, the first book, Eragon, Paolini was only 15 so the writing was a little amateur but as I started reading the second book Eldest, I noticed how his writing got so much more mature and older. I was very impressed. The characters were all great too. And well written. I liked Arya's relationship with Eragon. Their little 'crushes' for each other was cute. There was a little of romance in it but not to much it’s over powering the book. I also liked the bond between Eragon and Saphira. It was sweet and I loved Saphira's personality! Brisingr (third book in the series) was a little more graphic then I expected and a little drawn out at times but it made up for finding out some truths to Eragon and his real parents. These books made me laugh, cry, and wanting more! This series would be good for any age above 10 and for boys and girls. If you like dragons, mysteries, romances, and good characters, this is the book for you. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5. And I can't wait for th fourth book to come out. :)
Thanks for reading!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Okay, so we all know about Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It’s all over websites, TV, and stores. I read this series before it got famous and was made into a movie. To be honest it was one of the first books I’ve read. I fell in love with book. But! After I read it again and my mom read it, I realized how the writing was still a little immature. (I'm used to the old writings) I've read a lot of other Vampire books and have found other great ones that don't get attention like Twilight is getting. The characters were great and there was a lot of description (Which I like) but I just couldn't stand Bella. Edward was okay, his mysterious personality was cute. Jacob I really liked. I loved his sense of humor and his attitude. He was one of my favorites. The rest of the characters were great too. One thing, I don’t really like is that 10, to 13 year olds are reading this series. The last two books I thought were very racy. Not what those kids should be reading. It was meant for older kids. Not that it is Meyer’s fault of course, she only wrote it for herself in the beginning. I just think they should have warned the readers about the sexual content in it. So anyhow, above all I give it 3 stars out of 5. It all depends on what you like. I will write more about the other books I will be reading, don’t worry. And if you have any suggestions about other books YOU like, just comment me. Thanks for reading!

About Jan's Book Blog

~Hey guys, my name's Janel and this is my book blog. I'm only 16 but I've read more books then I can count and it will be from a teenage perspective. I will be writing about what books I've read lately and what I thought of them. It will be new releases or old books and if you have a book that you want me to read or write about, tell me. I will be reading young adult books and some adult. For girls and boys. Right now I'm reading all fiction. I will be posting a blog a couple times a week on a book I read. The first book I will be blogging about is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer since it is such a big hit. I know my thoughts might be controversial but just remember these are just my thoughts. Everyone's opinion is different. I welcome friendly, fun conversations about the books I write about. Thanks and read along with me. :)~
